Whilst i love my Holga and my Diana, they are quite expensive little plastic cameras. if you want to shoot lomo on a budget there are several sweet cameras you could get for a lot less money with some very good results.
A couple of months ago I bought a Cosmic Symbol and i got the test roll back yesterday and i'm quite happy! 10s of millions of these cameras were manufactured by LOMO in Leningrad between 1973 and 1993. The most popular name given to these cameras was Смена Символ, Smena or Smena Symbol. They sport a f4 40mm lens and settings for distance and weather condition
I'd be interesting in selling a few of my film cameras, look in about me and i would sell the ones with asterisks. if you're interested in any of them, let me know. Love Hol. x
I modify my holga, diana, brownie 120 and 127 to take 35mm film, but any camera can be modified to take 35mm, just as long as the 35mm cassette fits inside the camera once it's been closed.
Ingredients, or things you'll need:
a new kitchen sponge
rubber insulation tape
aluminium foil
With the take-up spool underneath the winder, place the film cassette in the other side. Take your kitchen sponge and cut a couple of cubes out of it, slightly larger than necessary to hold the cassette in place.
If your camera opens via a door at the back, you might want to put some more sponge around the cassette - you want to keep it as still as possible
